Method
Steak
- 1
Prepare the Steak
Remove the ribeye steaks from the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. Pat them dry with paper towels.
- 2
Season the Steak
Drizzle olive oil over both sides of the steaks. Sprinkle salt and black pepper evenly over the steaks, pressing gently to adhere.
- 3
Cook the Steak
Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare or until desired doneness. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
House Fries
- 4
Prepare the Potatoes
Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips to resemble fries.
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a large pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add the potato strips to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Season with salt immediately.
Southern Slaw
- 7
Prepare the Vegetables
Finely shred the green cabbage and grate or julienne the carrots.
- 8
Make the Slaw Dressing
In a large bowl, combine mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well blended.
- 9
Combine the Slaw
Add the shredded cabbage and carrots to the dressing. Toss until all vegetables are coated evenly. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Honey Mustard
- 10
Mix the Honey Mustard
In a small bowl, combine honey and Dijon mustard. Stir until well mixed.
