Pimento Cheese

Toasted Pita

Method

Pimento Cheese Preparation

  1. 1

    Grate the Cheese

Using a box grater or food processor, grate the sharp cheddar cheese into a large mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

Add the cream cheese, mayonnaise, diced pimentos, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and a few dashes of hot sauce to the bowl with the grated cheese.

  3. 3

    Mix Well

Using a spatula or wooden spoon, mix all the ingredients together until well combined and creamy. Adjust seasoning with more salt, black pepper, or hot sauce to taste.

  4. 4

    Refrigerate

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the pimento cheese for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.

Toasted Pita Preparation

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 6

    Prepare Pita Bread

Cut each pita bread in half to create pockets. Brush the outside with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.

  3. 7

    Toast Pita

Place the prepared pita halves on a baking sheet and toast in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until golden and crispy.

  4. 8

    Cool and Serve

Remove the toasted pita from the oven and let cool slightly before serving with the chilled pimento cheese.
