Prepare the Pickles
Pat the dill pickle slices dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

Make the Breading
In a bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

Prepare the Wet Mixture
In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and the egg.

Coat the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice into the wet mixture, then dredge in the flour mixture until fully coated.

Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

Fry the Pickles
Fry the coated pickle slices in batches, cooking for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

Drain and Serve
Remove the fried pickles with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve warm with a tangy dipping sauce.
