Fish and Chips Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fries

Peel and cut the potatoes into fries. Rinse and soak them in cold water for at least 30 minutes. Drain and pat dry.

  2. 2

    Fry the Potatoes

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potatoes in batches for about 5-7 minutes or until golden and crispy. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth.

  4. 4

    Fry the Fish

Dip each cod fillet into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place in hot oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Slaw

In a bowl, mix chopped cabbage, shredded carrots, mayonnaise, and lemon juice. Toss well and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Dish

Serve the beer-battered fish with crispy fries, house slaw, and a side of tartar sauce.
