Burrata and Focaccia

Method

Burrata and Focaccia Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Focaccia

If using store-bought focaccia, skip to the next step. If making from scratch, preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, warm water, salt, and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  2. 2

    Knead and Rise the Dough

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

  3. 3

    Shape and Bake the Focaccia

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into a rectangle on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Use your fingers to create dimples across the surface. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle sea salt on top. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Burrata

While the focaccia is baking, take the burrata cheese out of the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes to soften.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Dish

Once the focaccia is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly. Slice the focaccia into pieces. Place a generous amount of burrata on each slice, spoon over blood orange jam, and garnish with fresh basil leaves.

  6. 6

    Final Touches

Drizzle with extra olive oil and sprinkle black pepper over the top before serving.
