Churros

Method

Churros

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once boiling, remove from heat and add the flour all at once. Stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Allow the dough to cool for a few minutes, then add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C) over medium-high heat.

  5. 5

    Pipe the Churros

Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them to your desired length with scissors.

  6. 6

    Fry Until Golden Brown

Fry the churros until golden brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  7. 7

    Coat with Cinnamon Sugar

While still warm, roll churros in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat.

Chocolate Sauce

  1. 8

    Heat the Cream

In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.

  2. 9

    Add Chocolate Chips

Remove from heat and add the chocolate chips. Let it sit for a minute to melt.

  3. 10

    Stir and Add Vanilla

Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
