Flan Ingredients

Method

Flan Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Caramel

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar and water. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely. Allow it to boil without stirring until it turns a golden brown color. Immediately pour the caramel into a round baking dish, tilting to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Flan Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and seasonal fruit puree until smooth and well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine and Bake

Pour the flan mixture over the cooled caramel in the baking dish. Place the baking dish in a larger baking pan filled with water (this is a water bath). Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 50 to 60 minutes, or until set.

  4. 4

    Cool and Serve

Once baked, remove the flan from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan, invert onto a serving plate, and enjoy!
