Method
Prep Taco Shells
- 1
Prepare Soft Shells
Warm the soft corn tortillas in a skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side or until pliable. Set aside.
- 2
Prepare Hard Shells
If using hard taco shells, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the hard shells on a baking sheet and bake for 5-7 minutes until warm and crispy. Remove from oven and set aside.
Cook Meat Filling
- 3
Cook Ground Meat
In a large skillet, over medium heat, add the ground beef, chicken, or turkey. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- 4
Add Seasoning
Once the meat is cooked through, drain excess fat if necessary. Stir in the taco seasoning, and add 1/4 cup of water. Simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens.
Assemble Tacos
- 5
Fill Shells
Take a taco shell (soft or hard) and fill it with the cooked meat mixture. Be generous!
- 6
Add Toppings
Top the meat with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, a dollop of sour cream, and any additional toppings such as sliced jalapeños and fresh cilantro.
