Churro Dough

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

Method

Churro Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil Water and Butter

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once the mixture reaches a boil, remove the saucepan from heat and quickly stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until the mixture forms a ball.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Let the dough cool for a few minutes, then add 2 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Lastly, stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.

Cinnamon Sugar Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix Cinnamon Sugar

In a small bowl, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon. Mix until well combined and set aside.

Frying

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a large, deep pot, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Pipe Churros

Transfer the churro dough into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe 4-6 inch strips directly into the hot oil, cutting them off with scissors.

  3. 7

    Fry Churros

Fry the churros in batches for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.

  4. 8

    Coat with Cinnamon Sugar

While still warm, roll the churros in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat thoroughly.
