Brewing Instructions

  1. 1

    Mashing

Start by mashing the grains to extract sugars.

  2. 2

    Heat Water

Heat 5 gallons of water to 165°F (74°C).

  3. 3

    Add Grains

Add the Pale Malt, Crystal Malt, and Carapils Malt to the heated water and hold the temperature at 152°F (67°C) for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 4

    Sparging

After mashing, sparge the grains with 170°F (77°C) water to collect the wort.

  5. 5

    Boiling

Bring the collected wort to a boil.

  6. 6

    Add Hops

Once boiling, add Amarillo hops and boil for 60 minutes.

  7. 7

    Add More Hops

In the last 15 minutes of the boil, add Citra and Simcoe hops.

  8. 8

    Cooling

After 60 minutes, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller.

  9. 9

    Yeast Addition

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermenter and pitch the yeast.

  10. 10

    Fermentation

Seal the fermenter and allow it to ferment at 68°F (20°C) for 1-2 weeks.

  11. 11

    Bottling

Once fermentation is complete, dissolve priming sugar in a small amount of water and add it to the beer before bottling.

  12. 12

    Carbonation

Bottle the beer and let it carbonate for 1-2 weeks at room temperature.

  13. 13
