Preparation

  1. 1

    Wash the Spinach

Thoroughly rinse the fresh spinach under cold running water to remove any dirt or grit. Drain in a colander and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prep the Garlic

Peel the garlic cloves and finely chop or mince them. Set aside.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat the Olive Oil

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat until shimmering.

  2. 4

    Sauté the Garlic

Add the minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently, until fragrant and lightly golden. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

  3. 5

    Add the Spinach

Gradually add the washed spinach to the skillet. It may seem like too much at first, but it will wilt down significantly.

  4. 6

    Cook the Spinach

Using tongs, gently toss the spinach in the skillet as it cooks. Cook for about 3-5 minutes, or until wilted and tender.

  5. 7

    Season the Spinach

Sprinkle the sautéed spinach with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Drizzle with lemon juice and toss to combine.

  6. 8

    Serve

Remove from heat and transfer the sautéed spinach to a serving dish. Serve hot as a side dish.
