Lemonade Ingredients
Method
Lemonade Preparation
- 1
Juicing the Lemons
Roll the lemons on a countertop to soften them, then cut them in half. Use a lemon juicer or reamer to extract the juice from the lemons into a measuring cup. You should have about 1 cup of lemon juice.
- 2
Mixing Sugar and Water
In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is fully dissolved. This creates a simple syrup.
- 3
Combining Ingredients
In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, the simple syrup (sugar-water mixture), and the remaining 3 cups of cold water. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
- 4
Chilling the Lemonade
Add ice cubes to the pitcher to chill the lemonade. Alternatively, you can refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes to allow it to cool.
- 5
Garnishing
Before serving, add fresh mint leaves to the pitcher for garnish and added flavor. You can also add lemon slices for decoration.
- 6
Serving
Pour the lemonade into glasses filled with ice and garnish with additional mint leaves or lemon slices if desired.
