Prepare the Chicken
Rinse the half chicken under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels. Rub the chicken with olive oil, followed by salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder, ensuring it's evenly coated.

Soak the Wood Chips
Soak the pecan wood chips in water for about 30 minutes. This will help create smoke when grilling.

Preheat the Smoker
Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C). Add the soaked wood chips to the smoker box or directly on the coals.

Smoke the Chicken
Place the seasoned half chicken in the smoker, skin side up. Smoke the chicken for about 2 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
