Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chicken

Rinse the half chicken under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels. Rub the chicken with olive oil, followed by salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder, ensuring it's evenly coated.

  2. 2

    Soak the Wood Chips

Soak the pecan wood chips in water for about 30 minutes. This will help create smoke when grilling.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Smoker

Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C). Add the soaked wood chips to the smoker box or directly on the coals.

  4. 4

    Smoke the Chicken

Place the seasoned half chicken in the smoker, skin side up. Smoke the chicken for about 2 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

  5. 5

    Glaze with BBQ Sauce

Remove the chicken from the smoker and brush it generously with BBQ sauce.

  6. 6

    Grill the Chicken

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Place the glazed chicken on the grill and cook for an additional 5-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the sauce caramelizes.

  7. 7

    Rest and Serve

Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
