Cornbread

Dinner Rolls

Method

Cornbread

  1. 1

    Prepare the batter

In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

  2. 2

    Add cheese

Fold in the shredded cheese into the cornbread batter.

  3. 3

    Bake

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Pour the cornbread batter into a greased baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.

Dinner Rolls

  1. 4

    Mix ingredients

In a bowl, mix the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. In another bowl, combine warm milk, softened butter, and beaten egg. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.

  2. 5

    Knead and rise

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  3. 6

    Shape rolls

After rising, punch down the dough and divide it into 12 pieces. Shape each piece into a roll and place on a greased baking sheet.

  4. 7

    Bake

Cover the rolls and let rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
