Method

Preparation of the Base

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir until well combined.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well blended.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.

  4. 4

    Add Flavorings

Fold in the cinnamon and nutmeg into the batter until evenly distributed.

Cooking Process

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Prepare Baking Dish

Grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.

  3. 7

    Bake the Base

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Finishing Touches

  1. 8

    Cool and Serve

Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes. Dust the top with powdered sugar, then top with fresh berries and a dollop of whipped cream before serving.
