Method

Sausage Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Sausage Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, fennel seeds, paprika, garlic powder, crushed red pepper flakes, salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

  2. 2

    Form Sausages

Divide the sausage mixture into equal portions and shape them into sausage links or patties according to your preference.

  3. 3

    Cook Sausages

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausages for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally until they are browned and cooked through. Remove from heat and set aside.

Sautéed Peppers and Onions

  1. 4

    Sauté Vegetables

In the same skillet used for the sausages, add olive oil and heat over medium heat. Add the sliced bell pepper and onion. Season with salt and pepper. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender and slightly caramelized.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Make Marinara Sauce

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Add the canned crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble the Dish

To assemble, place the cooked sausage in a hot dog bun. Top with sautéed peppers and onions, a generous amount of marinara sauce, and sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top.

  2. 7

    Serve

Serve immediately while hot, and enjoy your Italian sausage with sautéed peppers and onions!
