Method

Preparing the Dough

  1. 1

    Mix the Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons of instant yeast, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Whisk together until well combined.

  2. 2

    Heat the Milk

In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of milk over low heat until warm (about 110°F or 43°C). Do not let it boil.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, 1 tablespoon of melted unsalted butter, and 1 whole egg until smooth.

  4. 4

    Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients

Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir with a wooden spoon or spatula until a dough begins to form.

  5. 5

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.

  6. 6

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

Shaping and Baking

  1. 7

    Shape the Rolls

Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release air. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased baking dish.

  2. 8

    Second Rise

Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes, until puffy.

  3. 9

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  4. 10

    Bake the Rolls

Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

  5. 11

    Prepare the Topping

While the rolls are baking, melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a small bowl. Stir in 1 teaspoon of garlic powder and 1 tablespoon of chopped parsley.

  6. 12

    Brush and Serve

Once the rolls are baked, brush them with the garlic butter topping and let them cool slightly before serving.
