Meatballs
Marinara Sauce
Method
Meatballs
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- 2
Mix the Meatball Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, and grated Parmesan cheese.
- 3
Form the Meatballs
Using your hands, mix the ingredients until just combined. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 4
Bake the Meatballs
Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through and golden brown.
Marinara Sauce
- 5
Sauté the Aromatics
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
- 6
Prepare the Sauce
Add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine and let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- 7
Finish the Sauce
Stir in the chopped fresh basil just before serving.
- 8
Combine with Meatballs
Once the meatballs are done baking, add them to the marinara sauce, gently stirring to coat. Let them simmer together for an additional 5 minutes.
