Preparation Steps
- 1
Cook the Bacon
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the thick-cut bacon slices until they are crispy and browned, about 6-8 minutes. Flip them halfway through for even cooking. Once cooked, transfer the bacon to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess grease.
- 2
Prepare the Vegetables
While the bacon is cooking, wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Tear them into pieces if necessary. Slice the large tomato into thick slices.
- 3
Toast the Bread
In the same skillet used for the bacon, lightly toast the sourdough bread slices on both sides until golden brown. You can use the bacon fat for added flavor or toast them in a toaster.
- 4
Assemble the Sandwich
Spread 1 tablespoon of mayo on one side of each slice of toasted sourdough. On two slices, layer the crispy bacon, followed by the lettuce pieces and tomato slices. Top with the remaining sourdough slices, mayo side down.
- 5
Serve
Cut the sandwiches in half and serve immediately while the bacon is still warm. Enjoy your delicious homemade BLT sandwich!
