Prepare the Clams
In a pot of boiling water, cook the clams for about 5-7 minutes until they open. Remove from heat, discard any that do not open, and chop the clams. Reserve the cooking liquid.

Cook the Bacon
In a large pot, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon and drain on paper towels. Leave the bacon fat in the pot.

Add Potatoes and Broth
Add the diced potatoes, chicken broth, thyme, bay leaf, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes until the potatoes are tender.

Combine Ingredients
Stir in the reserved clam cooking liquid, chopped clams, and heavy cream. Cook for another 5 minutes until heated through.

Serve
Ladle the chowder into bowls, crumble the cooked bacon on top, and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
