Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Caramelize the Onions

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions, sprinkle with a pinch of salt, and cook, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Burger Patties

In a bowl, season ground beef with salt and black pepper. Divide the beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each to prevent puffing during cooking.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over high heat. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar and a slice of fontina cheese on top. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burger is cooked to your desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Toast the Buns

While the burgers are cooking, toast the brioche buns on the grill or in a separate skillet until golden brown.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, layer lettuce leaves, a slice of tomato, the cooked burger patty with melted cheese, and a generous amount of caramelized onions. Top with the other half of the bun.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the burgers hot with your favorite sides.
