Ingredients for Craft Beer Battered Fish & Chips

Method

Directions for Craft Beer Battered Fish & Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fries

Peel and cut the Russet potatoes into thick fries. Soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat dry.

  2. 2

    Make the Coleslaw

In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage and carrot. In a separate small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, lemon juice, dill pickles, salt, and pepper. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss to combine. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until smooth and let it sit for about 10 minutes.

  4. 4

    Fry the Fish

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Dip the fish fillets into the batter, allowing excess to drip off, and carefully place them into the hot oil. Fry for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Fry the Fries

In the same oil, fry the soaked fries in batches for about 5-7 minutes or until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels. Season with salt.

  6. 6

    Serve

Plate the fried fish and fries alongside a generous serving of coleslaw. Serve with tartar sauce on the side.
