Directions
- 1
Prepare the Bacon
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
- 2
Mix the Rub
In a bowl, combine the brown sugar, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix well until evenly blended.
- 3
Coat the Bacon
Take the applewood smoked bacon slices and lay them flat on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the maple syrup over each slice and then generously sprinkle the brown sugar mixture over the bacon, coating both sides.
- 4
Prepare for Smoking
Soak the applewood chips in water for at least 30 minutes. This will help create smoke and enhance the flavor of the bacon.
- 5
Start Smoking
If using a smoker, set it up according to the manufacturer's instructions. Add the soaked applewood chips to the smoker and place the baking sheet with bacon inside. Smoke the bacon for about 1 hour until it’s crispy and caramelized, checking occasionally.

Oven Alternative
If you don’t have a smoker, place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the bacon is crispy. You can also place the bacon on a wire rack set over the baking sheet for even cooking.
