Ingredients
Steak and Seasoning
Preparation and Cooking
1. Preparing the Steak
Remove the USDA Prime Tomahawk steak from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 1 hour before cooking.
2. Seasoning the Steak
Generously season both sides of the steak with kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, and garlic powder. Rub the seasoning into the meat and let it sit for 30 minutes.
3. Preheating the Grill
Preheat your grill to high heat, approximately 450°F to 500°F (232°C to 260°C).
4. Searing the Steak
Brush the grill grates with olive oil to prevent sticking. Place the steak on the grill and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side, creating nice grill marks.
5. Cooking to Desired Doneness
After searing, move the steak to a cooler part of the grill and cook until it reaches your desired internal temperature: 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare, 140°F (60°C) for medium.
6. Resting the Steak
Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.
7. Serving
Slice the steak and serve with fresh rosemary sprigs for garnish.
