Bake the Pound Cake
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the pound cake into 1-inch thick slices. Arrange the slices at the bottom of a baking dish to create a base for the ice cream. Set aside.
- 3
Make the Meringue
In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add granulated sugar and continue to beat until stiff peaks form. Mix in corn syrup, salt, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- 4
Assemble the Baked Alaska
Remove the ice cream dome from the bowl and place it on top of the pound cake in the baking dish. Spread the meringue over the ice cream and cake, making sure to cover everything completely.
- 5
Bake the Baked Alaska
Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C). Place the assembled Baked Alaska in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until the meringue is golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
- 6
Prepare the Salt Caramel Ganache
In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream until hot but not boiling. Remove from heat and add the chopped chocolate and butter. Stir until smooth. Add salt to taste and mix well.
- 7
Serve
Slice the Baked Alaska and drizzle with salt caramel ganache before serving. Enjoy!
