Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Slice the onion into thin rings. In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter, add the onions, and sauté until they are caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Set aside.
- 2
Cook the Burger Patty
Form the ground beef into a patty, season with salt and pepper. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of butter and cook the patty for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until desired doneness. In the last minute of cooking, place 2 slices of American cheese on top to melt.
- 3
Assemble the Melt
Spread a tablespoon of burger sauce on one side of each slice of bread. Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on one slice of bread, top with the grilled onions, and cover with another slice of bread, sauce side down.
- 4
Grill the Sandwich
In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of butter. Grill the sandwich over medium heat until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
- 5
Serve
Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and serve hot with additional burger sauce on the side if desired.
