Method

Preparing the Steak

  1. 1

    Season the Ribeye

Pat the ribeye steak dry with paper towels. Rub the steak with olive oil, then season generously with kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder on both sides.

  2. 2

    Bring to Room Temperature

Allow the seasoned steak to sit at room temperature for about 30-45 minutes before cooking. This helps it cook evenly.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 3

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a cast-iron skillet or heavy pan over high heat until it is very hot.

  2. 4

    Sear the Steak

Add the olive oil to the hot pan. Carefully place the steak in the pan and sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it.

  3. 5

    Flip and Add Butter

Flip the steak using tongs and add butter and rosemary to the pan. Baste the steak with the melted butter for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare.

  4. 6

    Check Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. Aim for 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.

  5. 7

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Preparing the Sides

  1. 8

    Cook the Asparagus

Steam or grill the asparagus until tender, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  2. 9

    Prepare Mashed Potatoes

Boil peeled and chopped potatoes until tender. Drain and mash with butter, cream, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.
