Mashed Potatoes

Method

French Fries

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into even-sized sticks, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Fry the Potatoes

Drain and pat dry the soaked potatoes. Fry them in batches for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown.

  5. 5

    Season and Serve

Remove the fries from the oil, drain on paper towels, sprinkle with salt, and serve hot.

Garlic Green Beans

  1. 6

    Prepare the Green Beans

Wash the fresh green beans and trim the ends.

  2. 7

    Sauté the Garlic

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. 8

    Cook the Green Beans

Add the green beans to the skillet. Season with salt and black pepper. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until tender-crisp.

  4. 9

    Serve

Remove from heat and serve immediately.

Seasonal Vegetable

  1. 10

    Prepare the Vegetables

Wash and chop the mixed seasonal vegetables into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 11

    Toss with Oil and Seasonings

In a mixing bowl, combine the vegetables with olive oil, salt, and dried herbs. Toss to coat.

  3. 12

    Roast the Vegetables

Spread the vegetables on a baking sheet and roast in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, stirring halfway through.

  4. 13

    Serve

Remove from the oven and serve hot.

Seasoned Rice

  1. 14

    Rinse the Rice

Rinse the long-grain rice under cold water to remove excess starch.

  2. 15

    Cook the Rice

In a saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, chicken or vegetable broth, butter, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a boil.

  3. 16

    Simmer

Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15-20 minutes until the rice is fluffy and the liquid is absorbed.

  4. 17

    Fluff and Serve

Remove from heat, fluff the rice with a fork, and serve.

Mashed Potatoes

  1. 18

    Boil the Potatoes

In a large pot, add the peeled and cubed potatoes. Cover with water, add a pinch of salt, and bring to a boil.

  2. 19

    Cook Until Tender

Reduce heat and simmer for about 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are fork-tender.

  3. 20

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

  4. 21

    Serve

Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving dish and serve hot.
