Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a rough dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Assembling the Pizza

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.

  2. 6

    Shape Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a 12-inch round shape.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce and Cheese

Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Tear the mozzarella cheese into pieces and distribute it evenly on top.

  4. 8

    Add Basil and Seasoning

Tear fresh basil leaves and scatter them over the cheese. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  5. 9

    Bake Pizza

Carefully transfer the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.

  6. 10

    Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes. Slice and serve hot.
