Buns

Method

Preparing the Patties

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat Grill or Pan

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip. Cook for another 3-4 minutes on the other side until they reach your desired doneness.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to melt.

Assembling the Burgers

  1. 6

    Prepare Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 7

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese. Add a slice of tomato, a few pickles, and condiments like ketchup and mustard to taste. Top with the other half of the bun.
