Method
Pulled Pork Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Pork
Rub the pork shoulder with a mixture of brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Ensure the pork is evenly coated.
- 2
Slow Cook
Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Pour the apple cider vinegar over the pork, cover, and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the meat is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
- 3
Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Use two forks to shred the pork into bite-sized pieces.
- 4
Mix with Barbecue Sauce
Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix with barbecue sauce. Let it cook on low for an additional 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Sandwich Assembly
- 5
Prepare the Buns
Toast the sandwich buns lightly if desired.
- 6
Assemble the Sandwich
Place a generous amount of pulled pork on the bottom half of each bun. Top with coleslaw and pickles. Cover with the top half of the bun.
- 7
Serve
Serve the pulled pork sandwiches warm, with extra barbecue sauce on the side if desired.
