Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) to ensure it's hot enough for the biscuits to rise properly.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk them together until evenly mixed.

  3. 3

    Cut in the Butter

Add the cold, unsalted butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Baking

  1. 4

    Add Wet Ingredients

Pour in the milk and honey (if using) into the dry mixture. Stir gently until just combined; the dough should be slightly sticky.

  2. 5

    Shape the Biscuits

Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Gently knead the dough a few times until it comes together. Pat or roll the dough to about 1-inch thickness. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits.

  3. 6

    Bake

Place the biscuits on a baking sheet, slightly touching each other. Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve Warm

Remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with butter and jelly.
