Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Melt the Butter

In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Mixing Ingredients

  1. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, salt, and baking powder until well combined.

  2. 4

    Add Wet Ingredients

In the saucepan with the melted butter, add the eggs and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth.

  3. 5

    Mix Together

Pour the butter mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

Baking

  1. 6

    Add Optional Ingredients

If using, fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts into the brownie batter.

  2. 7

    Bake the Brownies

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  3. 8

    Cool and Serve

Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and serve.
