Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Sauté the Vegetables
In a large skillet over medium heat, add a splash of oil and sauté the diced onion until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Mix the Sauce
In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar, ketchup, yellow mustard, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Bake the Beans
Transfer the mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish. If desired, sprinkle chopped bacon on top. Cover with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

Final Uncovered Bake
After 30 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly and slightly caramelized on top.

Garnish and Serve
Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm.
