Make the Caramel
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the granulated sugar. Stir constantly until the sugar melts and turns a golden brown color. Quickly pour the caramel into the bottom of a round baking dish, tilting to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool and harden.

Pour and Bake
Pour the flan mixture over the cooled caramel in the baking dish. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a water bath by placing the baking dish inside a larger pan filled with hot water. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool and Serve
Remove from the oven and let cool to room temperature. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan and invert onto a serving platter. Slice and enjoy!
