Flan Ingredients

Method

Flan Directions

  1. 1

    Make the Caramel

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the granulated sugar until it turns golden brown. Quickly pour the caramel into a flan mold or individual ramekins, tilting to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool and harden.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Flan Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine and Blend

Pour the flan mixture over the hardened caramel in the mold. If desired, blend the mixture using a hand blender until smooth.

  4. 4

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the flan mold in a larger baking dish filled with water (bain-marie). Bake for approximately 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  5. 5

    Cool and Serve

Remove the flan from the oven and let it cool at room temperature. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. To serve, run a knife around the edges and invert onto a plate.
