Preparation
- 1
Rinse the Cranberries
Thoroughly rinse 4 cups of fresh cranberries under cold running water to remove any dirt or debris.
- 2
Combine Ingredients
In a large pot, combine the rinsed cranberries and 4 cups of water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
- 3
Boil the Cranberries
Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cranberries have burst and softened.
- 4
Strain the Mixture
Remove the pot from heat. Place a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth over a large bowl and pour the cranberry mixture into it. Allow it to drain for about 10 minutes to extract as much juice as possible.
- 5
Add Sugar and Lemon Juice
In the strained cranberry juice, add 1 cup of sugar and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. Stir well until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- 6
Cool and Serve
Let the cranberry juice cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled. Serve over ice, if desired.
