Method
Preparation of Chili
Cook the Meat
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or turkey until browned. Drain excess fat.
Add Vegetables and Beans
Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until the onion is translucent. Stir in the chili beans, diced tomatoes, chili powder, salt, and black pepper.
Simmer the Chili
Lower the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Assembly of Nachos
Layer the Chips
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). On a large baking sheet, spread an even layer of tortilla chips.
Add Chili
Spoon the prepared chili evenly over the tortilla chips.
Sprinkle Cheese
Generously sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the chili.
Bake the Nachos
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Add Toppings
Remove the nachos from the oven and top with pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, and sliced jalapeños.
