Method

Preparation of Cranberry Sauce

  1. 1

    Rinse the Cranberries

Place the fresh cranberries in a colander and rinse them under cold running water. Remove any stems or damaged berries.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed cranberries, sugar, water, orange zest, and the cinnamon stick.

  3. 3

    Cook the Mixture

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cranberries have burst and the mixture has thickened.

  4. 4

    Add Vanilla Extract

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Allow the sauce to cool for a few minutes.

  5. 5

    Remove Cinnamon Stick

Once the sauce has cooled slightly, remove the cinnamon stick from the mixture.

  6. 6

    Serve or Store

You can serve the cranberry sauce warm or transfer it to a jar to cool completely before refrigerating. It can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Optional Garnishing

  1. 7

    Prepare Garnishes

If using, chop the pecans finely and rinse the fresh mint leaves.

  2. 8

    Serve with Garnishes

When serving the cranberry sauce, sprinkle the chopped pecans on top and garnish with fresh mint leaves for added flavor and presentation.
