Preparation of Noodles

Cook Udon Noodles
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the udon noodles and cook according to package instructions, usually around 8-10 minutes, until tender. Drain and set aside.

Make the Soy Sauce Broth
In a medium saucepan, combine the vegetable broth, soy sauce, mirin, sesame oil, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat and let it cook for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Season the Broth
Taste the broth and add salt and black pepper to your liking. Continue to simmer for an additional 2 minutes.
Combining and Serving

Combine Noodles and Broth
In serving bowls, divide the cooked udon noodles evenly. Pour the hot soy sauce broth over the noodles.

Garnish
Top the noodles with sliced green onions and, if desired, nori strips and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
