Pasta Preparation
- 1
Cook the Spaghetti
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti and set aside.
Sauce Preparation
- 2
Make the Tomato Sauce
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
- 3
- 4
Season the Sauce
Add salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to the sauce. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
- 5
Add Fresh Basil
Stir in the chopped fresh basil and remove from heat. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
Combining and Serving
- 6
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet with the tomato sauce. Toss well to coat the spaghetti in the sauce, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time if the sauce is too thick.
- 7
Plate the Dish
Divide the spaghetti among serving plates. Tear the burrata cheese over the top of each serving and garnish with fresh basil leaves.
- 8
Serve
Serve immediately while hot, allowing guests to mix the creamy burrata into the pasta.
