Method
Preparing the Sauce
- 1
Cook the Sauce
In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add the San Marzano tomatoes, salt, black pepper, and dried oregano. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in the fresh basil before removing from heat.
Preparing the Pizza
- 2
Prepare the Dough
Preheat your oven to 250°C (482°F). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat as well. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness, typically about 1/4 inch thick.
- 3
Assemble the Pizza
Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza peel or baking tray. Spread a generous layer of the prepared San Marzano tomato sauce over the dough. Evenly sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
- 4
Add Toppings
Distribute the sliced cremini mushrooms, prosciutto crudo, and chopped sundried tomatoes evenly over the cheese.
- 5
Bake the Pizza
Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the tray in the oven. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
- 6
Garnish and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before slicing and serving.
