Main Ingredients
Method
Preparation of Sticky Rice
- 1
Soak the Rice
Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- 2
Steam the Rice
Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth. Steam over boiling water for about 30-40 minutes, or until the rice is tender.
Coconut Sauce
- 3
Prepare Coconut Sauce
In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat, stirring gently until the sugar is completely dissolved. Do not let it boil. Reserve 1/4 cup of the sauce for drizzling later.
- 4
Mix Sauce with Rice
Once the rice is done steaming, transfer it to a mixing bowl. Pour the coconut sauce over the rice and stir well to combine. Let it sit for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Assembly
- 5
Prepare the Mango
While the rice is resting, peel the mangoes and slice them into thin strips.
- 6
Serve
To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate and arrange the mango slices beside it. Drizzle the reserved coconut sauce over the top and garnish with sesame seeds or mung beans.
