Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine the white sugar, brown sugar, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well mixed.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, mix together the apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, ketchup, and pineapple juice. Whisk until smooth.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Mix well until all components are combined.

  2. 4

    Thicken Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, transfer the combined mixture. Bring it to a gentle boil while stirring continuously to prevent sticking.

  3. 5

    Add Water

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry. Gradually add this slurry to the simmering sauce, stirring constantly.

  4. 6

    Final Cook

Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes or until the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency. Remove from heat.

Serving

  1. 7

    Cool and Serve

Allow the sauce to cool slightly before serving. Use immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
