Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a kettle, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Make sure the water reaches a rolling boil for the best extraction of flavor from the green tea leaves.

  2. 2

    Measure Tea Leaves

While the water is boiling, measure out 2 teaspoons of green tea leaves. You can use loose leaves or a tea bag.

Brewing

  1. 3

    Steep the Tea

Once the water has reached a boil, remove it from the heat and let it cool for about 2 minutes. Pour the hot water over the green tea leaves in a cup or teapot. Allow it to steep for 2-3 minutes.

  2. 4

    Strain and Serve

If using loose leaves, strain the tea into your cup. If using a tea bag, simply remove the bag. Your green tea is now ready to be enjoyed.

Optional Enhancements

  1. 5

    Add Sweetener

If desired, stir in 1 tablespoon of honey for sweetness. Adjust the amount to your taste.

  2. 6

    Add Lemon and Mint

For added flavor, squeeze in 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and add fresh mint leaves to your tea before serving.
