Method

Filling Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Vegetables

In a large mixing bowl, combine the finely shredded cabbage, grated carrot, and chopped green onions. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Add Aromatics

Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the vegetable mixture. Stir until well combined.

  3. 3

    Season the Filling

Pour in the soy sauce and sesame oil. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.

  4. 4

    Chill the Filling

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the filling mixture for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Wrapping

  1. 5

    Prepare the Wrappers

Lay one egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with a corner pointing towards you.

  2. 6

    Fill the Wrapper

Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the chilled filling onto the wrapper, placing it in the center.

  3. 7

    Roll the Egg Roll

Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides and roll up tightly. Use a little water to seal the top edge.

  4. 8

    Repeat

Repeat the process with the remaining wrappers and filling.

Frying

  1. 9

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 10

    Fry the Egg Rolls

Carefully add a few egg rolls to the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.

  3. 11

    Drain and Cool

Using a slotted spoon, remove the egg rolls from the oil and drain them on paper towels. Repeat with the remaining egg rolls.

Serving

  1. 12

    Serve

Serve the hot egg rolls with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce.
