Method
Preparation
- 1
Slice the Beef
Thinly slice the beef against the grain into bite-sized pieces.
- 2
Prepare the Marinade
In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, and cornstarch to create a marinade. Add the sliced beef to the marinade and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
- 3
Blanch the Broccoli
In a pot of boiling water, add the broccoli florets and cook for 2-3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
Cooking
- 4
Stir-fry the Beef
In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Remove the beef from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until browned and just cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- 5
Add Broccoli
In the same skillet, add a little more oil if needed, then add the blanched broccoli. Stir-fry for 2 minutes until heated through.
- 6
Combine and Finish
Return the beef to the skillet with the broccoli. Pour the reserved marinade over the mixture and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Drizzle with sesame oil before serving.
Garnishing
- 7
Serve
Transfer the beef and broccoli to a serving dish. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, if using. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
