Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Noodles

If using regular Pad Thai noodles, soak them in warm water for 30 minutes until soft. If using glass noodles, soak them in warm water for 15 minutes until pliable. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Slice the Beef

Thinly slice the beef against the grain to ensure tenderness. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Chop Vegetables

Julienne the carrot, slice the red bell pepper, and chop the green onions. Set aside.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Cook the Beef

In a large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  2. 5

    Stir-fry the Vegetables

In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the carrots, red bell pepper, and green onions. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened.

  3. 6

    Combine Noodles and Sauce

Add the soaked noodles to the skillet with the vegetables. In a bowl, mix together fish sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, tamarind paste, and lime juice. Pour the sauce over the noodles and stir well to combine.

  4. 7

    Add Beef and Bean Sprouts

Return the cooked beef to the skillet along with the bean sprouts. Stir-fry everything together for another 2-3 minutes until heated through and well combined.

Serving

  1. 8

    Plate and Garnish

Transfer the Beef Pad Thai to serving plates. Garnish with crushed peanuts, chopped cilantro, and lime wedges.

  2. 9

    Serve

Serve immediately while hot, allowing diners to squeeze extra lime juice over their servings if desired.
