Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

Cut the pork shoulder into large chunks and season with salt, pepper, cumin, garlic powder, and oregano.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pork

In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the seasoned pork chunks and sear on all sides until browned.

  3. 3

    Add Juices and Water

Pour in the orange juice, lime juice, and water. Bring to a simmer, cover, and reduce the heat to low. Cook for about 2 hours or until the pork is tender.

  4. 4

    Shred and Crisp

Remove the pork from the pot and shred it with two forks. Spread the shredded pork on a baking sheet and broil in the oven for 5-10 minutes until crispy.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the carnitas with rice, beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, and warm tortillas.
