Make the Meatballs
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.

Shape the Meatballs
Form the mixture into meatballs about 1-1.5 inches in diameter.

Cook the Meatballs
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a drizzle of olive oil. Brown the meatballs on all sides (about 8-10 minutes) and then remove from the skillet.

Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Pour in the crushed tomatoes, add chopped basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Stir to combine.

Combine Meatballs and Sauce
Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and let simmer for 20 minutes.

Cook the Spaghetti
While the meatballs are simmering, bring water to a boil in a large pot. Add salt and spaghetti, and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain.

Serve
Serve the spaghetti topped with meatballs and sauce. Garnish with additional basil or Parmesan if desired.
